What is an ocean? A field of blue and luster? A timeless scene that stretches beyond the eye can see? or is it something to overcome; a test of tribulation. An inspiration; something to challenge with all ones might.

When I was a mere boy I had an incident where I felt like I was going to drown in the waves at a lake in Dallas. This incident left me broken and afraid.... Remembering the feeling of water surging into my mouth with every gasp of air manifested a fear that i wish to never partake in again. Then I would imagine myself drowning or getting lost in the vastness of the ocean. Feelings of deep sadness and loneliness would flood my heart because what is a person to do if they are drowning into the dark depths of the sea, or to be lost; all alone with no one to save you. It's one thing to view the ocean from the safety of land but it is a whole new experience to be riding on the waves with nothing but a boat keeping you afloat. But imagine if it was just you riding the waves with undrinkable water all around you. lost, hopeless, forgotten.

As I grew into my teen years, I begun to have respect for the ocean. I started to figure out ways to harvest the amount of potential and kinetic energy produced by its magnificence. Such as using the waves to create friction and somehow translate it into electric energy with the use of massive paddles far out into the sea. But then my mom told me of a dream she had while she wasn't feeling well. She told me " I saw an angel, an angel with red wings at the sea shore telling me "come... come". After some research about angels with red wings, the web stated that Seraphim and or Archangels are seen with red wings. maybe it was a sign that someone was looking out for my mom. Maybe she was getting better....

A few years later as I'm navigating trough a few Youtube videos I stumble across a commercial where a boat filled with people is travailing through turbulent waters. The crew seem to be struggling with the winds and the strong waves crashing against the boats side, yet a man far off in the distance who seems to be walking on water tells Peter to "come". So he does. Without fear, eyes focused on the figure in the distance; he steps out of the boat and disregards his crews warnings. Then he to is miraculously standing on water. Taking a few steps forward, he stumbles to the sound of lighting and begins to sink into the depths of the sea. A voice is heard while he is struggling to survive. "Peter, you of little faith. Why did you doubt". Then he was found aboard the ship alive. It hit me. I must sustain my faith and remember that God will always stretch out His hand to save me.

The Future

fiveknights.wordpress.com
The future...
Riddled with awe, suspense and wonder.
How will we live? How will we interact with each other?  What will our cities look like?
beyond the veil of imagination lies the boundaries of infinite possibilities, cloaked in a shroud of our own setbacks, lost in mans dreams.
A time of peace, a time of rest, a time of consensus.
Yet plagued by war and our own greed, the shades of doubt and the chains of enmity constrict us to our sinful lives. Starvation, our Odium, our inSanity will course through our veins fading our essence into the void's Devilish madness; Ending our Aether wings with Desolation and sadness.
But there is still a chance. There is the most strangest things at war with the jackal inside.

Lest we find it. Overcome we will. Vitality we will find. Enduring we will shield against the tides of darkness.
Will we finally see with our eyes, hear with our ears, and feel with our hearts to the voice crying out in the wilderness?
The future...

Consume and Abuse

What i find interesting about many of the citizens of the proud United States of America is that we are filled with an unquenchable thirst to consume. Consume what you may ask? Consume just about anything our eyes lay sight upon. But that’s not the problem. The problem lies when people begin to take advantage of our indulgent habits making a large number of Americans feel obligated to purchase their products through insidious means of advertising and well planned out store front funneling.
www.ikeafans.com/
For example, every time I walk through an Ikea the first thing i notice is that they have little post where a average Joe can pick up a pencil and paper to take notes with. They also strategically position many of their products into make shift rooms so a customer can get an idea on what products can satisfy and their little heats desires. They try to hard to cram every possible Ikea-inspired creation into almost every nook and cranny. But what i find to be the most hilarious is how they positioned an Ikea cafeteria just a little off of the entrance of the main hall way to where you can almost not see it. This shortcut also contains the fastest way out of the store. But wait, there’s more! Within the cafeteria they STILL advertise their products with kitchenware and even the food you can buy at the service line! They try to fancy us with frozen goods such as "Swedish meatballs" when they taste just like regular meatballs you can buy from your local Wall-Mart. And the gravy they use for those meatballs taste just the same as regular meatballs. But this is only but a skid mark of the "craftiness" of their products.

The merchandise you can buy has no better quality then the stuff you can buy at Wall-Mart. My sister not too long ago bought a expensive white clothing shelf thinking that it would help organize her room a bit for the long run. But rather then helping her problems it only created more. Only less than a month in, the shelf begun to fall apart piece by piece. It quickly lost its function and its worth and became a more than a headache than a Tylenol. And after examining the makeup of the product, i found out that the price my sister bought did not do justice to the quality of what she got. Its like they insidiously built their products with cheep faulty materials so a person can keep coming back to buy more and more and more and more of their products! But thankfully we realized that it was all a marketing ploy to suck our wallets dry.

What really grinds my gears to a bitter desolation is that many of these "A" class companies are doing the exact same thing as Ikea. They thoroughly plan out their great scheme by finding ways to lure their prey in. like a Angler fish with its bright luminescent lure, they use many types of advertising. But once they got your attention and you are unaware of the nasty jaws behind the lure, they snatch you in with their teeth and chew you for every last dollar. Because you know, a penny won’t allow you to purchase their overpriced, poorly made, uniformed products. And now it seems like they are not even trying! Their ads follow us almost everywhere we go, harassing us with tidbits of their knowledge. Such can be seen in the Internet. I'm truly guilty of this because before i even knew it tricky advertising got the best of me.

When I was looking for a card to strengthen my deck on Amazon, they tricked me into buying more than what I asked for. It started with a click then along the bottom of the web page a stream of related items appeared. Rather than controlling myself, I quickly clicked on that next item. Then the process of click, add, and, buy became a joyous routine. Before i knew it I was way over my budget and many hours into the day. It’s like they knew that I was looking for and understood my needs and wanted to "improve" on them! They begun to mold me into the products they threw at me! Sadly, I basically said 'YOLO' and bought them anyways... now I know better.

Conformism is individuality's arch nemesis, the bane of creativity and the fall of personalization. The other thing that these companies know how to do very well is force the populous to their terms and regulations. They insidiously place a seed within your mind and indoctrinate your being to buy "all of their stuff"! And from this seed sprouts the fruits of their labor and upon this fruit is the juice of order... their order. And with its bittersweet flavor, one will meld into what the company wants you to live. And by that point your house will be decorated with the products or their design, the clothing of their making, taste the things of their flavor, and ultimately become another mannequin within their mindless horde of peons. So if you feel that you have piles of clothes with one name brand on it and designing your living quarters with what you have seen in Ikea's next magazine, you might need to a self check and revaluate yourself unless you are the type of person who enjoys it. However there are those who want to live a life of freedom rather than chains.

In the country of Iran there are people who want to share their ideas of fashion and creativity to the world. (Keep in mind that the new government of Iran is still a faulty one) However, they are being held down by an oppressive government that chooses to force creativity down the drain. Just imagine if you were jailed for expressing your own opinion. So next time if you notice that you are conforming to the terms and conditions of a one brand company remember that there are people who are fighting against the current and are willing to die for something different.

What is Love?

www.babble.com

What is love? what does it mean to rely on somebody besides yourself? what does it mean to sacrifice for another's sake? The one thing that has perplexed me about the grand country that is the "United" States is that the lines of separation are STILL bleeding away our magnificence into dust. To heal such wounds will require us to relinquish our selfishness and embrace  benevolence.

www.christcenteredmall.com
Just the other day I saw what appeared to be a homeless man on the corner of a stop light begging others for money. With his sign held waist high, wearing a red plaid shirt, and a dirty baseball cap blocking the sun's bright rays, I felt compassion towards him. heck I even got a sandwich for him but returning to the sight where he begged, I lost him. Almost every time i drive by that corner I usually see around half a dozen people begging for the essentials. But I also see people in their cars stopped next to a beggar focusing on the road ahead and not dare look back at them. How can somebody do thusat? How can you just watch a human being sit there begging for the essentials and not do anything about it. I'm sure if that was a poor puppy on wondering the streets someone is bound to help it out. I've even seen animals help their kind in times of need! Does this beggar not breath like you? Did that person not have similar aspirations as you when you where a kid, enjoy music, live for the good things in life? Just imagine if you where in their position! Yet we call ourselves Earth's caretakers but can't even take care of our fellow man. So if you see someone begging for money, food, or water, just give it to them in surplus because if you can already provide for yourself why not help another in need. What we need is love.

Another thing that really bothers me is when we characterize and capitalize people for making bad decisions. Just keep in mind that they are still human and should be treated as human and not euthanized for their actions. They still deserve a second chance.

Cellpocalypse

mmmday.blogspot.com/2012/04/world-full-of-cyborgs.html

Everywhere I go, no matter what the circumstances are, I am bound to find at least one person soaking up all the time in the world on a cell phone. It seems to me that cell phones have now become a necessity for human beings to exist! Has it truly become a vital piece of our lives? Has technology finally intergraded its software into our humanity? I hope not.

Even though we use cell phones to keep in touch with family members, compile research, and for our own entertainment, when people pull out their cell phones, especially when family and friends are there to enjoy a piece of our lives with each other, that’s when the line should be drawn. If there is a real human being who is there to not only talk to you, but is there to do things with you then why should a cell phone be a priority
iphone, how to, curious, focused, texting, cell phone,
www.businessinsider.com
when the conversation gets a little boring. Rather than playing a game of Flappy Birds go find something else to do with that person. Talk about something imaginative or about a person, place, or thing. Don’t just sit there at waste each other’s time tapping your thumbs to the hard cold glass screen a metal or plastic box. after all, a cell phone is just a tiny box with a battery that emits lights and makes noises to please a person. it can't interact with you on a personal level.

grayfactor.blogspot.com/2012/10/shock-treatment.html
I see this way too often and I want it to stop! Yes though a cell phone can provide a person with many pleasures, but it’s just a piece of technology. It cannot replace the feelings and interactions one can get though another human being who can not only answer back at you, but can also laugh with or at you, care for you, and FEEL the same things as you do.If we continue with this now acceptable trend, we will become techno zombies; everything and anything has to be done with a cell phone and we interact with other people with huh and grunts and moans. So put away with your cell phone when there is company around and enjoy the human with love and joy.

Rice

http://commons.wikimedia.org/
As blood is as vital to the human body to sustain itself, rice is the elixir of foods for this Filipino’s heart. Not only is it a staple food for my culture, people, and I, but it also has this ‘mystical’ bond that unites our Filipino cultured family together. Maybe it is its satisfying texture or its fulfilling nature but I know that there is one thing for certain, it helps bind my family together like the sticky cooked substance it is, and if someone was to label rice as a poison to the body I WILL feel a deep unconceivable stabbing at my heart bending my knees to the ground and face skywards asking God “WHY”! sorta like the way Charlton Heston portrayed the main character in the 1968 version of “Planet of the Apes”.

ivoryhut.com/2010/09/biko-filipino-sweet-sticky-rice/

As far as I could remember, rice has been eaten at almost every meal, party, and event. Without it, meals taste bland and unsatisfying; empty, lost or confusing in flavor. It is kind of like eating spaghetti without the sauce or like listening to a musician putting zero effort into their music. Maybe I’m over exaggerating a bit, but I really really, really, love rice! We would eat rice with other foods that would not usually be eaten with other things besides rice, such as fried chicken and chicken nuggets. For some reason we feel the need to but at least a cup of rice on the side to combine the both already delicious foods and make it into a masterpiece of a dish. For the dishes that require rice, we would first but the rice on a bowl, then place the rice-required meal on top of it. With every spoon and or fork dip we would first scoop or cut a piece of whatever is on top of the rice, then proceed to scoop the spoon into the most precious of layers; the rice layer. Same would go for steaks of meat. We would apply the same principles but first cut the steak then continue with a spoon of rice. Filipinos even created many desserts made out of rice such as Biko; a rice dense block mixed with brown sugar and lots of delicious sweets. When I would ask my dad how his life was in the Philippines and what they ate, he would tell me that would give him a bowl of sweet rice pudding for breakfast to start of the day. And when my family was low on other substances to eat for a main course meal, they would “add a little more rice”. But this tradition or law as my cousin would put it, would not have been a foundation for me if it was not for my family carrying out the love of rice to their children.

Good Game

imagem
www.gamevicio.com
Fingers set; lightly resting on the Q, W, E, R keys with the right hand grasping a black smooth unremarkably modern office mouse. Eyes poised and focused on the champions’ loading screen while back is upright and feet planted on the floor. Then takes a deep breath and closes his eyes envisioning methods to dispatch his foes. Mind gathers thoughts of enemy’s champion composition; figuring out routes to gank (flanking tactic) and how the enemy will react while chaining players movements in secession root, stun, kill… root, stun, kill… heal, buy, repeat… game finishes and types in all chat, GG well played. Then like a football player running out onto the field while fans are cheering, hears the echoing voice “Welcome to summoner’s rift!” It wasn’t always like this every time I wanted to play my current favorite game. When I was a little boy it used to be as simple as listening to the Doom theme song intro then pressing start to all the blood and gore my little heart could take. Suffice it to say video games have been a part of my life since I could remember. But it seems as though electronic games have had a profound effect on America.

roussinavalkova.com
As I grew through the years one thing I have come to noticed was how much the video game franchise has grown. Amazingly this is one American hit that I wish not to end! From its humble creations of 'Tennis for Two' (not pong) to the exhilarating life-like first person shooter Battlefield 4, electronic games that range from consoles to downloadable games for a phone have truly made an impact America. The United States is saturated with electronic games. Even the first game was created in the America! Just go to your local Wal-Mart and dip yourself into the electronic section of the store and you will most likely find advertisements for big video game releases and accessories for the hardware. And while you take a stroll through the isle and have a cell phone available, go to the app store and search for games. I am sure that you will find more than 10 games to play. However there are the common misconceptions associated with electronic games.

File:Assassins-Creed-06-1.jpg
assassinscreed.wikia.com
Some might think that electronic games are‘just for kids’ and should be put away with when a person reaches adulthood but according to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) 68% of people 18 and above are gamers. Just a few months ago I saw various adult family members playing games like Candy Crush, Angry Birds, and the most recent hit Flappy Bird. However, others might say that the majority of gamers are male however the ESA has stated that 45% of gamers are indeed female! So games are not what one might consider to be a one based gender media. Additionally, I find it interesting how some gaming companies are trying to educate players’ school related topics such as math and science. These types of games are usually geared towards a younger audience. But games like the Assassins Creed series which has a huge focus on European and American History, and a more grisly and bloody game style to it, has been enjoyed by people of a mature people. The Electronic era of gaming has trickled its way into many American hands. And its presences can be visible all throughout the American frontier. From handheld devices to computers and gaming consoles, electronic games will have a lasting place in American culture.
